Prepared to Preach

"Prepared to Preach" is a book that brings together four lectures delivered by Pastor Albert N. Martin at the Ministers’ Conference organized by The Banner of Truth Trust in Sydney, Australia, in 1979. In this work, the author addresses with biblical fidelity and pastoral passion one of the most urgent and neglected issues in the life of the contemporary church: the theological and spiritual preparation of the gospel minister.

Far from offering a mere academic or methodological reflection, Martin presents a deep biblical exposition accompanied by an urgent call to ministerial repentance , radical reformation, and a faithful restoration of the principles established in Scripture regarding the training of those called to preach the Word.

The message not only challenges current ecclesiastical pragmatism but also confronts the church with its responsibility to form ministers according to the biblical model—even if it means confronting deeply rooted practices such as tradition, convenience, or religious pragmatism. As the author himself puts it, such reform may require us to "take the Sword of Truth and drive it into the belly of Lord Convenience, Prince Pragmatism, and Queen Tradition."

This book remains a prophetic voice for the body of Christ—especially in a time when superficiality and the professionalization of ministry threaten to eclipse holiness, faithfulness, and the urgency of biblical preaching.
